The Granite Pointe Golf Course is a must-stop destination to round out your Kootenay Golf Trail travel experience. It is conveniently located only minutes from the beautiful downtown core of Nelson, British Columbia. It has been considered a gem in British Columbia’s scenic Kootenay Rockies Region so be sure the batteries are full in your camera so you can bring home some of the spectacular views of the famed Kokanee Glacier, the town of Nelson and Kootenay Lake.

The Granite Pointe golf course underwent a complete overhaul and expansion to its 18 holes by acclaimed architect Bill Newis in 1993. It traverses through park-like and mountainous terrain offering generous fairways, elevated mountain-side tee boxes along with a number of risk-reward challenges. It is the mountainous beauty of the Granite Pointe golf course which provides an exciting and rewarding experience for all levels of golfers. As it is with all the Kootenay Golf Trail courses, there is plenty of time to enjoy the magnificent views of the surrounding area while you are playing, but don’t forget, precise shot making is required.

The golf course begins with rolling parkland, offering wide, friendly fairways but then becomes progressively more challenging as it winds through its mountain setting. Photo opportunities will be plentiful on the back nine as there are several elevated tees that offer spectacular views of Kootenay Lake and the Kokanee Glacier. Holes 15-17, known as the Three Aces, offer some excellent scoring opportunities. The par-4 16th, though maxing out at 302 yards is considered to be one of the best holes in British Columbia. The golf course finishes with its signature hole, the 331 yard 18th. This par 4’s trademark is the massive granite boulder that partially blocks the view of the home stretch. The have a beautiful Clubhouse for you to enjoy an after round meal which is why it has been Nelson’s golf course since 1920.
